On a cold winters weekend in July, the faithful gathered for the annual Reloaded event. Over the next 38 hours more than 750 people would pass through the doors to play in some of the fiercest competitions known to gaming man.
Reloaded would like to acknowledge the contributions of its admins in getting the event up and running, setup started at 7am for the truly dedicated and the doors actually opened early (around 3.30pm) – something of a record for a Reloaded event. Credit for this lies entirely with the tireless admin team who had to lay out something like 200 trestles, 500 chairs, kilometres of network and electrical wiring, dozens of posters, and tens of metres of gaffa tape.
Fridays competitions underway and the major competitions for the evening were of course the COD5v5 and what was meant to be the CSS Qualifying competition – which in fact ended up being the whole competition. 10 teams competed in the CSS Competition, and 8 competed in the COD4 Competition, with prizes thanks to Tt eSports and A4tech. Prizes for the Team Fortress King of the Hill competition were courtesy of Fractal Design.
The Friday Fight night competitions were well competed in, with Marvel v Capcom, Tekken and Streetfighter VI all showing their popularity. Prizes were thanks to Tt eSports and Plantronics.
Starcraft 2 continued its revival of the RTS Genre with a good showing at Reloaded in both 1v1 and 2v2 varieties. Team Fortress 2 had nearly 50 players turn out for its competition, helped immeasurably by the assistance of the Ozfortress administration team which turned out to assist the Reloaded team. Prizes for these competitions were courtesy of Tt eSports, Plantronics and A4tech
Door prizes and other random competitions were drawn at 6pm on the Saturday of the event with prizes thanks to Tt eSports.
Saturday evening saw the running of several tournaments designed to use a variety of methods across several games to kill the events organiser “Wookie”. This took place across Quake III Arena (gauntlet kills only), Half Life 2 Deathmatch and Call of Duty 4. You gained points if you killed him, but lost points if he got you. He doesn’t get many kills. Prizes for these competitions were courtesy of Fractal Design.
Several other competitions were ran during the evening, and while we have pictures of most of the winners, for the life of me I cant remember what they won prizes for. (Sadly records were lost in the Great Hard Drive Crash of July 20th)
Reloaded would like to thank all those who came out during this years event, and we look forward to seeing you all back at the same time next year.
